MCAT: Medical College Admission Test

The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is a national level exam designed to ascertain candidate’s knowledge of basic concepts of science, at the same time evaluating their skills in critical thinking, problem-solving and writing. The MCAT tests candidates' skills and knowledge required for success in medical school and the practice of medicine.

The MCAT exam is administered by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). All medical schools in the United States and many in Canada and other countries ask the applicants to submit recent MCAT exam scores as part of their application process. Many health institutions and graduate programs now accept MCAT scores instead of other standardized tests.

Medical schools in U.S, in coordination with AAMC develops and administers the MCAT multiple times through out the year. From late January through early September at hundreds of test sites in the United States and Canada, as well as selected locations throughout the world.

The only way to register for the MCAT exam is online. Registration  may be completed through the AAMC’s website. Walk-in registration is not available.

It is always better to register early, as testing centers have limited capacity and registrations are processed in the order they are received.
