Associate Degrees in the US
Associate degrees are awarded to the students after the completion of the two-years or 60
credits
semester hours. Now, associate degrees are available online also,
allowing you to study whenever or wherever you want. Once you get an
associate degree, you typically need another 2 years or 60 credit hours
to earn a bachelor (college) degree. The associate degrees are offered
by two types of
colleges:- Community College and
- Junior College
Associate degrees are classified as:- Occupational associate degree:
This type of degree prepares you to take up job immediately after
getting the degree. The occupational associate degree prepares a student
for a particular type of career. A student has to choose a subject in
the degree program, in which he/she wants to take up their career.
Occupational associate degrees are offered in various courses like
Computers, Engineering, and Business Administration etc.
- Transfer associate degree: This
type of associate degrees is beneficial for if you want to study
further and earn bachelor’s degree also. The transfer associate degree
provides them the opportunity to transfer the credits earned by them in
the coursework to 4-years bachelors’ degree program of any university.
