Visiting campuses in the US is an excellent way of identifying schools/colleges and getting an idea of campus life. You need not visit far; your local colleges will give you an idea of how a campus functions and what a campus life is all about. You can contact the admission office and arrange for a campus visit with your child. Your child can talk to his or her counselor and join an organized tour of the campus. What to Expect?
A campus visit usually includes an information session where the admission representative talks about the college before tour. The tour is usually led by current students. In some colleges campus visits also include:

- Meeting a financial aid officer
- Meeting the admissions officer
Encourage your child to go through the official website of the college before the campus visit. It will help him or her to come up with valid questions during the tour. If you are visiting a college where your your child is likely to take admission, then you can get answers to questions like:
- The average size of the class
- Current class composition
- Dorm space
- Campus meal plan
While in the campus, ask your child to get materials like student newspapers, business cards, prospectus and brochures etc.
