PSAT/NMSQT - Scores
PSAT/NMSQT scores indicates about your ability for success in college.
In addition to your test scores, your Score Report Plus gives you
personalized feedback on your academic skills, and is full of
information to help you get ready for college and for the SAT.
The sum of the three scores (reading, maths and writing skills) is known as the selection index. Selection Index is used to determine eligibility in National Merit Scholarship Corporation programs (NMSC). Only High School Juniors (or eleventh grade) students are eligible to enter NMSC scholarship programs.
Selection Index: The Selection Index ranges from 60 to 240. The average Selection Index for students in eleventh grade is about 143. The minimum selection index required to be recognized as a semifinalist is determined by selection unit
Score Report Plus
Scores: SAT/NMSQT :scores are reported on a scale of 20 to 80. This section contains average score for the three sections(Reading , Maths, and writing)
Range: Tells you about your scores would vary if you took the PSAT/NMSQT a number of times.
Percentile: Helps you compare your performance on the PSAT/NMSQT to the performance to other who took the tests.
Skills: You get personalized feedback on your academic skills, based on your performance in the test.
Your Answers: This section contains the number of the answers you replied correctly , your answers, and level of difficulty are displayed for every question on the test. This section is extremely vital as you get your actual copy of the PSAT/NMSQT test booklet back.
Next Steps: This section contains information about the major you expressed interest in on the test day. It also contains an access code that allows you to go online and learn more about this major, related majors, and careers that may suit you.
