California Institute of Technology (Pasadena, CA)
The GALCIT- Graduate Aerospace Laboratories of the California Institute of Technology prominence is on the fundamentals and advanced diagnostics of aeronautics and astronautical engineering.
The applicants are allowed only for the academic year beginning in September and the deadline for application is December 15. Applicants for graduate study are strongly urged to submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores with their applications. Applicants whose first language or native language is not English are required to submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores with their applications. All applications must be submitted on-line.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, MA)
MIT AeroAstro is America's oldest and most respected university aerospace program. The program is known for its scholarship program and solving industrial-strength problems. The applicants can apply to the individual departments as AeroAstro uses a department specific electronic graduate application. The applicant must have a strong background in mathematics and physics. Your GPA should be a minimum of 3.0 on a four-point scale, or 4.0 on a five-point scale to apply. Also, 3 letters of recommendation with the application form is the part of the admission procedure. If your language of instruction beginning in primary school was not English, you'll need to take either the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System). On the TOEFL, the minimum score of 100 on the internet-based exam is considered to be eligible and on the IELTS you must score a minimum of 7 total.
Stanford University (Stanford, CA):
The freshman applicant application deadline is January 1 and the transfer applicant application deadline is March 15 for the undergrad school. For graduates, a completed application including letters of recommendation, transcripts, and GRE/TOEFL score is considered for admission. GRE general results must be from an examination taken within the last five years. No GRE Subject test is required. TOEFL results must be from an examination taken within the last eighteen months. Applicants should have the Educational Testing Service (ETS) send scores electronically to Stanford.
University of Michigan Ann Arbor (Ann Arbor, MI)
The U-M Aerospace Engineering program is a highly ranked by US News and World Report. A completed online application form is to be filled to get in U-M. The Aerospace Engineering Department looks for applicants who have demonstrated academic effort through a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General test scores-The Aerospace Engineering Department looks for applicants who achieve a minimum of a combined Verbal and Quantitative score of 308, and an Analytical Writing score of 4.0 on the revised GRE.
Three letters of recommendation with the official Rackham Recommendation Form cover sheet from people who are familiar with you, in particular faculty members who have supervised your coursework and/or research is vital for admission. At least 2 of the recommendation letters must be from faculty. Official TOEFL scores (only for international applicants or non-native speakers of English). The TOEFL minimum requirement is 84. The Admissions Committee is most interested in undergraduate and graduate academic performance, GRE scores, research experience, letters of recommendation (especially coming from faculty at least 2 from faculty are required) and the academic statement of intent.
Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, GA)
The Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology is one of the oldest and largest educational programs of its kind in the country. Standardized test scores have a place in the admission process at Georgia Tech. GA Tech accepts both the tests SAT and ACT. GA Tech uses all three portions of the SAT and/or the three equivalent parts of the ACT i.e.,
- SAT Critical Reading = ACT English
- SAT Math = ACT Math
- SAT Writing = ACT Combined English/Writing
Only the highest section scores from wither test is viewed in the evaluation process. The Honors, extracurricular activities, essays and work experience is also a criterion for admission. The early application deadline is October 21 and the regular decision deadline is January10.
