Admission Requirement for Top 5 Schools

The University of Texas at Austin (Austin, TX)

The Undergraduate admission Summer/Fall admission deadline is December 1 and spring deadline is October 1. The admission procedure involves a Texas application form, two essays, application fee (non-refundable), high school transcripts that includes your class rank and size, Official SAT Reasoning or ACT plus writing scores, and recommendation letter. For graduate admission, a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution, a GPA of at least 3.0, Official test scores of GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, IELTS, Statement of Purpose, and Letters of Recommendation. TOEFL scores over two years old will not be accepted. Other test scores more than five years old will not be accepted. Only test scores mailed directly from the testing agency are considered official.

Texas A&M (College Station, TX)

For undergraduate admission, the spring application deadline is October 15 and Summer/fall term deadline is December 1. The required documents are: a completed ApplyTexas Application, application fee, essays, an official high school transcript with a numerical class rank and graduation plan, a curriculum verification form, and Official SAT or ACT scores including the writing component. Admission into the Petroleum Engineering graduate program is based upon many factors including GPA, GRE scores, and three letters of recommendation and the statement of purpose. TOEFL scores are also required of International Applicants. A minimum score of 80 must be met for consideration. Applicants may also either submit a resume or curriculum vita to further support their application.

Colorado School of Mines (Golden, CO)

The Undergraduate admission requirement at Colorado involves high school transcripts that includes class rank, ACT or SAT with writing scores,  three academic letters of recommendation and high school coursework that includes pre-calculus, calculus, trigonometry, English, Social studies and science. The fall application deadline is April1. All applicants whose native language is not English will be asked to submit the scores of TOEFL or IELTS.

University of Southern California (Los Angeles, CA)

USC uses the Common Application exclusively for graduate admission. The graduate admission also considers Official high school transcripts, School Report, and three Letters of recommendation. Satisfactory performance in previous coursework related to the intended major is required. Likewise, the following documents must also be submitted: the UCS Online application, Statement of Purpose, Resume or CV and Test scores i.e. GRE General Test scores, TOEFL/IELTS scores. Only scores received directly from the testing service are considered official.

Stanford University (Stanford, CA)

The undergrad Regular Decision application deadline for Stanford University is January 2. Standardized Test Scores for either the ACT / SAT or TOEFL test are considered. SAT/ACT scores must be received by the Institute by January1. It is most selective, with an acceptance rate of 6.6 percent.  Along with standardized test scores, an application form and common application essay is considered of minimum 250 and maximum 650 words.  The basic idea behind application essay as a part of admission procedure is to gauge the character and thoughts. Essay writing basically reflects the applicant’s voice.

The graduate application for admission requires Statement of Purpose, three recommendation letters, educational history and test results of GRE and TOEFL/IELTS. GRE - General Test results are required: both scores and percentages for each individual test.
